Challenge

Children & youngsters in Patio Bonito, are growing up without access to adequate nutrition and good education. Coming from dysfunctional, single-parent families, mostly made up of mothers heads of families without formal employment, who live of garbage recycling; they are confronted to very low educational levels, are highly vulnerable, subject to situations of violence and conflicts, early pregnancies, to the presence of drugs and gangs. Their social & economic opportunities are very limited.

Solution

Zua Foundation is offering theses children and youngsters hope and opportunities to improve their lives with better nutrition and education as the means to drive them out the poverty circle. They are provided with a nutritionally balanced lunch whilst being offered learning and artistic programs to contribute to their personal and intellectual development. They also are offered the possibility of pursuing university studies.

Long-Term Impact

The children and youngsters who benefit from the project will be able to break their cycle of poverty, to overcome the difficulties they are confronted with in their environment. They shall have the opportunity to be better fed and educated. They shall have opportunities to develop their intellectual capacities, with the ability to dream and realize their dreams. They then become part of the solution and process that shall contribute to the transformation of their community for the better.
