Dear Donors and supporters,
Thank you for your support toward our project on reducing food loss and fighting malnutrition in Nigeria. We are grateful for every contribution received. At this point, the funds raised are still not enough to begin implementation, but we are making steady progress with early planning so that we can start immediately once we reach the minimum required level.
We have mapped farmer clusters in Jigawa, Benue, Bauchi, Kogi, and Kebbi, and identified partner markets and clinics that will participate in the recovery and distribution system. We have also outlined training modules for farmers on proper storage, handling, and transport to reduce spoilage. Engagement with school meal programs is ongoing so they can receive fresh produce once the project starts.
The need remains high. Nearly half of Nigeria’s harvest is lost each year, even as many families—especially in the north—struggle to afford enough food. Children face the highest risk. Safe storage bags, crates, and recovery tools will help farmers keep more of their crops, while weekly food pickups will allow surplus produce to reach clinics and schools before it spoils.
Our next steps include continuing fundraising, finalising procurement plans for storage materials, and completing agreements with collection points. Once adequate funding is secured, we will begin distribution to farmers and launch the food recovery schedule across the five states.
Thank you again for your support. Every step brings us closer to feeding more children while helping farmers protect their harvests.
Best regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic K.
