Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank the donors who have supported the Cutting Food Loss to Fight Malnutrition in Nigeria project. Your support reflects care for both farmers and families who struggle with food shortages. We truly appreciate the contributions received so far, however, the amount available at this time is still not enough to begin the planned activities.
In many parts of Nigeria, large portions of harvested food are lost before they reach markets or homes. Poor storage, long transport routes, and lack of preservation tools cause grains to spoil and fresh produce to go to waste. At the same time, many families cannot afford enough food, and children miss meals.
This gap between food loss and food need continues to affect communities, especially in northern states where malnutrition remains a concern. Farmers lose income, while families struggle to access affordable and nutritious food.
This project is designed to support 3,000 farmers with better storage tools and recovery methods. Surplus food will be collected and shared with clinics and school feeding programs to reach children and families who need it most.
With improved handling and redistribution, more food can be preserved and used instead of being wasted. This can help reduce pressure on families and support better nutrition for children.
We are grateful for the support already shown toward this effort. With additional contributions, it will be possible to move forward and begin connecting surplus food with those who need it most.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
