Cyclone and Floods Relief in Andhra Pradesh, India

We are happy to share the progress of our Cyclone and Floods Relief Project in Andhra Pradesh, spanning from November 2023 to February 2024. Despite the modest sum of $18 received through this initiative over the last four months, our commitment to aid those in need remains unshaken.

In the first week of December 2023, Cyclone Michoung struck with devastating force, severely affecting the coastal regions of Guntur and Bapatla districts. The cyclone caused significant damage to homes, agriculture, infrastructure, and the livelihoods of the local communities, leaving many families destitute, without income, and facing challenges such as food scarcity, water pollution, and health hazards.

In response to this disaster, we initiated an urgent appeal through a micro-project on GlobalGiving, raising an additional $70. This combined with the support from GlobalGiving and other kind contributors, enabled us to provide immediate critical relief to 200 families affected by Cyclone Michoung. We distributed essential supplies, including ration kits filled with staple foods and hygiene products, and conducted educational sessions on emergency and cyclone preparedness.

Moreover, we supported rebuilding efforts by providing tarpaulin sheets to 70 families whose homes were damaged. The project’s success was reflected in the positive feedback from beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude for the timely and substantial support. We also extended aid to another 200 families, offering emergency food supplies and roofing materials.
