Namaste, Dear Donors and Supporters,
Project Update: July 1 – October 31, 2024
We want to send you a heartfelt update on our work and the tough challenges we faced over the last four months. This period was truly defined by two things: the non-stop dedication of our team and the extremely difficult weather we encountered, which, sadly, was not matched by financial support.
The Challenge: Rains, Floods, and a Cyclone Montha
The second half of this period, especially October, was dominated by nature's fury. We saw severe monsoon flooding and a major cyclone Montha hit our working areas across Guntur, Bapatla, and Vijayawada.
The good news is that local authorities and our teams worked hard to make sure no lives were lost. However, the cyclone and the floods absolutely devastated farms and destroyed household goods for thousands of families—especially migrant workers and those living in low-lying coastal areas. They lost everything they owned.
Our Team Was There (But Without Funds)
Despite the chaos, our team was on the ground immediately! We worked tirelessly during the crisis:
We helped with Evacuations: We monitored the weather and helped guide families from dangerous low-lying areas to safe relief centers.
We Assessed the Damage: We checked on the most vulnerable families to see exactly what they lost (crops, clothes, shelter) so we knew who needed help first.
This dedicated work was done using our existing internal resources, as we received only $50 during this entire four-month reporting period (July–October).
Frankly, the lack of funding is a critical hurdle. That $50 is nowhere near enough to buy even a single large batch of essential relief supplies. We successfully handled the emergency part (evacuating people), but we are now completely paralyzed when it comes to providing the recovery support they need.
Our Urgent Goal: 400 Families Need You
Our immediate goal is clear and urgent: we must provide immediate ration kits (food, basic supplies) to 400 cyclone-affected families. These kits are their survival lifeline right now as they try to rebuild their lives.
We have the logistics, we have the network, and we know these families personally—we just need the funds to purchase the kits.
We humbly and urgently request you to kindly consider making a donation to help us support these families in their darkest hour.
Please Donate Now and Help Us Reach Our Goal: Please Make a Donation to help Cyclone Montha affected families
Thank you for being the compassion these communities rely on.
With deep gratitude
