COMMEMORATION OF WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY 2025

By Atim Racheal | Fundraiser

On 20th November 2025, Joy for Children Uganda joined the rest of the world to commemorate World Children’s Day, a day dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights and wellbeing of every child. This year’s celebration highlighted the importance of creating safe, supportive, and inclusive environments where all children can grow, learn, and thrive.

The event brought together children, community members, government representatives, and partners for a day of reflection, awareness, and advocacy. The celebrations were graced by His Royal Highness King Nadiope IV as the Guest of Honour, whose presence reinforced the importance of cultural and community leadership in championing children’s rights. In his remarks, he emphasized the role of families, schools, and leaders in safeguarding children from violence, neglect, and harmful practices.

During the commemoration, children participated in various activities, including presentations, performances, and discussions that allowed them to express their views on issues affecting them. They spoke about education, safety, health, participation, and the need for adults to listen more to children’s voices. These engagements created an important platform for children to be heard and recognised as active contributors to their communities.

Joy for Children Uganda used the day to raise awareness on the ongoing challenges that many children face, including violence at home, exploitation, child marriage, and limited access to essential services. Through speeches, interactions, and information sessions, JFCU highlighted the need for stronger protection systems, improved reporting mechanisms, and increased investment in child-focused initiatives.

The event also strengthened partnerships among stakeholders working in child protection. Government officials, civil society organisations, and community leaders expressed their commitment to work together to ensure that every child grows up in a safe and enabling environment. Their participation reflected a shared responsibility in addressing the barriers that prevent children from enjoying their rights fully.

World Children’s Day 2025 provided a meaningful opportunity to renew collective commitment toward defending children’s rights. Joy for Children Uganda remains dedicated to advocating for policies, services, and community actions that place children at the centre. The organisation appreciates the continued support from partners and donors who make it possible to reach, empower, and protect children across Uganda.
