Every two minutes, a child dies from malaria-yet prevention is simple and affordable. This project will protect 2,000 vulnerable families in Niger State by distributing 10,000 WHO-approved insecticide-treated mosquito nets and providing practical malaria prevention education. By combining physical protection with behavior change, we will immediately reduce malaria infections among children and pregnant women while strengthening community health systems for sustained impact.
Malaria is a leading cause of illness and death in Niger State, especially among children under five and pregnant women. During the rainy season, infection rates spike, overwhelming families and clinics. Many households cannot afford mosquito nets or lack knowledge on proper use. Repeated malaria episodes lead to missed school, lost income, high medical costs, and preventable deaths, trapping families in cycles of poor health and poverty.
A proven solution exists: consistent use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets. We will procure and distribute 10,000 WHO-approved LLINs, allocating one net for every two people per household. Distribution will be conducted through community outreach events and health clinics. Local health workers will lead demonstrations on correct use, ensuring families adopt and maintain protective behaviors long after distribution.
Your support will create lasting, measurable change. Proper net use can reduce malaria cases by over 50%, saving lives and preventing illness. This project will protect approximately 10,000 people, reduce child mortality, improve maternal health, and lower household medical expenses. Healthier children will attend school consistently, parents will miss fewer workdays, and entire communities will grow stronger and more productive.
