The End of the Year Report

By Larry Hill | Executive Director

Happy Holidays to all our Medic Outpost Family

2023 was a very good year for Medic Outpost in Mexico.  Our programs are expanding to include more healthcare professionals from the U.S. and other countries.  We are continuing to develop and upgrade our maternal health and birthing programs in remote villages in Hidalgo State.  I am excited to report that we will be returning to the State of Guerrero.  It has been a couple of years since we have worked in the mountains of the Costa Chica region in the state.

Medic Outpost is working closely with the Secretary of Health in the Guerrero to provide training for rural midwives and community first responders.  Our goal is to develop a sustainable healthcare presence in the villages that will coordinate with the state health department. The goal to reach the most remote people isolated in the mountains.  Medic Outpost provides state of the art medical kits to our midwife training graduates that give them the resources to save newborns as well as young mothers.

Midwives are a critical link in the survival of both mothers and newborns in these areas.  Infant mortality data seems to receive the most publicity in the global health battle, however maternal mortality is a significant problem and is growing each year.  Midwives find themselves faced with critical patients on two fronts.  Often these ladies have only the teaching of their mothers to deal with severe post-partum hemorrhage along with a newborn who needs immediate resuscitation.  Your donation dollars and support provide the necessary training and equipment to change the narrative of maternal and newborn survival.

Please consider making a donation to purchase a midwife medical kit this Christmas.  Giving the gift of life is going to be hard to beat for you and your family in 2024.  The cost of a complete kit is $240.00 US dollars.  It’s not cheap we know but the included equipment can be used over and over to provide mom and baby a fighting chance.  Any amount is appreciated and will go to put the kits together.  Please email me if you need more information or would like one of our new information books.  We are always looking for recurring donors and corporate sponsors interested in supporting a great program.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
