Namaste and Warm Greetings,
Dear Friends and Supporters,
BASS, India is delighted to share a heartening update on the progress of our Learning Centre for children from waste picker families in Guntur for the period of April to June 2025. For the past two years, this center has been a beacon of hope, dedicated to providing care, protection, and educational opportunities to 50 vulnerable children.
The center operates daily with two sessions, guided by two dedicated teachers, fostering both academic excellence and essential life skills. We are thrilled to witness the children's consistent enthusiasm and bright smiles as they embrace learning.
Remarkable Progress Amidst Challenges
A significant achievement this quarter is the successful promotion of 40 children to their next classes in school. Their improved attendance, active participation, and complete cessation of waste picking are powerful testaments to the transformative power of education. The children's newfound confidence and their parents' unwavering support highlight the profound positive impact of our program.
The academic year 2024-25 concluded in April, leading to summer holidays. However, our center remains continuously open even during these breaks, ensuring uninterrupted learning and support. We provide vital nutritional support through daily breakfast and evening meals. Our teachers also deliver crucial life skills training to both children and their parents, empowering them to build a better future.
Overcoming Obstacles
This quarter brought an unexpected challenge: the demolition of the children's family homes by the government due to the construction of a major road. While families were offered different areas, they chose to remain in the same locality, bravely rebuilding their living huts and our classrooms. This resilience is truly inspiring, and our center continues to be a stable point amidst such upheaval.
Urgent Appeal for Support
Despite this remarkable progress and the incredible resilience shown by the children and their families, we continue to face significant financial constraints. Unfortunately, this project has not received any external support since November 2024.
We urgently appeal for your generous support to sustain and expand our efforts. Your donation will directly impact the lives of these 50 promising children, providing them with the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future.
Your contribution is more than just a donation; it is an investment in their immense potential and a testament to your commitment to creating a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you for your unwavering kindness and continued support.
Gratefully,
The BASS Learning Centre Team
