Hello!
The sun is shining and the teachers are excited as we start the first day of the new term at our school in the heart of a rural township in South Africa.
It all began 6 years ago with a dream and a small group of fundraisers when we took on 25 young students that was not able to get into a local school under our wing and setup our Grade R class, after the first year we built a second classroom fundraised for an additional teacher along with the new Grade 1 text books and stationery then we recruited another 20+ students into Grade R while the originals moved up to Grade 1.
Today that original class is starting Grade 6 and we need around $5,000 to purchase their text books along with stationery for all grades for 2023 to be successful, we really appreciate your support and if you can please share our story with your networks to help us raise these funds.
Back to the school, it is absolutely amazing the support you and other friends of our project have shown us and originally these children wouldn't have been able to get any education which means they would have been at home unemployed and stuck in the poverty cycle so many people face. However because of us, together, we have worked hard and these students are showing some amazing grades in their exams.
Primary school goes to Grade 7 here so next year we will start our final year with them and officially be a full primary school, it was a dream but now it is a reality and we are changing the future for over 190 children.
