During an Orbis screening for trachoma, a painful and potentially sight-threatening eye disease, including an annual mass drug administration where everyone receives antibiotics to treat and prevent the disease, we met Abraham, Ayralem, Tadelech, and her siblings in the heart of a small village. They found themselves facing the challenges posed by trachoma,
Life in their small village presented its own set of challenges for Abraham and Ayralem as they worked to support their family. The couple sustained themselves through the craft of pottery. Thankfully, their village had access to fresh water, ensuring they could maintain cleanliness, a vital step in addressing the trachoma.
Unfortunately, Tadelech showed early signs of active trachoma, with her eyes red, sore, and streaming. And her discomfort was evident - her eyes red, sore, and streaming. Luckly the Orbis Screening indlucides the distribution of antibiotics to treat and prevent the Trachoma. So, gratitude filled the air as Abraham and Ayralem's children, alongside other village children, received their annual antribitoic treatment. In just a few days, Tadelech showed significant improvement, her eyes noticeably healthier.
Their hopes for the future were are yet profound - with their children's eyesight restored, they aspired for them to attend school.
Your support has played a crucial role in this transformative journey, bringing health and hope to those who need it the most.
Thank you for being part of our journey and making stories like Abraham and Ayralem's possible.
