275 families participating in the DEHVI Foundation programs are being directly affected by the crisis we are experiencing right now due to COVID-19, causing them to fall into a situation of poverty even deeper than the one they were in before. Due to health restrictions many families have stopped receiving income, especially those who have an informal job or are in refuge status. With these donations, we will be able to support basic needs during the pandemia.
Costa Rica has taken strong sanitary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which has had a positive impact on health, but has caused the economy to contract, especially affecting those who were already in a situation of poverty, women households, with informal work or irregular immigration status or refuge.
Today, the stress situation in families is important, especially when they live in small spaces and without adequate conditions, if we add to this the fact that they do not have food or cleaning supplies, water, electricity or housing, the conditions become unsustainable for life. With your support, 275 families without incomes will be able to cover their most basic needs until the restrictions are relaxed and they can have their own income again.
These families will be able to count on the conditions to return to work when the measures are relaxed or to look for new opportunities to support their families. The memories of the lived for children and adults, will be mediated by solidarity and not by pain, which allow them to build their future with optimism and impacting society with positive values.
