We want to share Sorelio Baquiaza Charapia story, he’s one of our beneficiaries with our Project Donate and give a prosthesis.
Sorelio is 33 years old, he’s from Bahía Solano, exactly from a Alto Rio Valle – Boroboro, an indigenous reservation of Embera Katio Colombian tribe. He doesn’t have a job but he helps their governor.
A snake bit him when he was 6 years old and he must be amputated and he lived during some years in Medellin in a foster home. Later he returned to his region with a prosthesis and he used it during 20 years, when he arrived to Foundation Time of Peace for his first appointment his functional leg has a difference of 25-30 cms. It means he has a high risk of a spinal column lesion. After some examinations, we gave him a transtibial prosthesis.
Foundation also gave him air tickets, paid food and accommodation expenses during 2 weeks, after he returned home he expressed he wanted to study for supporting his indigenous community, his dream is managing a school for young people of his tribe. So Foundation gave him a computer and helped him to register in a National Open University, right now he’s studying Indigenous Communities Education Degree.
This project not only gives prosthesis, we also give a change of life!
