The completion of our sanctuary for senior and disabled cats is done. We have a welcomed some residents and they are settling in very well. But the ongoing costs seem endless so we would love it if you could support ROLDA and help more elderly and disabled cats enjoy our beautiful new shelter. Thank you to everyone who helped.
As canine reproduction and numbers decrease, ROLDA has noticed a significant increase in the local feral cat population. This is because of the decrease in competition for food and the reduced presence of dogs, which creates a more favourable environment for cats. Feral cats are often encouraged for rodent control, while feral dogs are usually deterred.
Many disabled and senior cats in Galati need specialised care. To ensure the safety and comfort of these vulnerable cats, ROLDA intends to construct the first shelter in the region solely for old and disabled felines. It will serve as a sanctuary only designed to offer senior and less-abled cats a tranquil, comfortable, and secure environment for their remaining years.
Once the cats are in the shelter, they can socialise with both humans and other cats, which is crucial for the well-being of older animals.
