Summary

A problem in South Africa is that children, whose parents can't afford a uniform are not allowed into to Primary School. We believe that uniforms empower children to carry out their dreams, because something as small as lack of a uniform can often be a deterring factor in the lives of children in rural communities. Dress 4 Success school uniform project equips a child with full school clothing as well as basic school supplies & enable them to go to school with confidence & self respect.

Challenge

A problem in South Africa is that children, whose parents can't afford a uniform, are not allowed into to Primary School. Our mission with Dress 4 Success is very simple: we want to provide school uniforms to children who are unable to afford them due to poverty or socio-economic circumstances. In each kit we provide school shoes, 2 x pairs of socks, a school skirt/ shorts, shirts, a jersey, an eraser, a ruler, pencils and other basic school supplies.

Solution

With Dress 4 Success, we believe that self confidence gives you the power to excel. To empower children to carry out their dreams, they need first of all to believe in themselves. Something as small as lack of a school uniform can often be a deterring factor in the lives of children in a rural community. You can equip a child with full school clothing as well as basic school supplies and enable them to go to school with confidence and self respect.

Long-Term Impact

Dress 4 Success, for just R 300 a year, takes the pressure off families who may not have the funding to buy these necessities themselves, and allows the children a chance of an education that they might not otherwise have been privy to. This also allows families to channel low-income wages towards food and healthcare, as basic needs such as school uniforms are now being met.
