A water well for the poor Hindu Community in Thar

STORY

The goth (village) Lakhi Tobu is a small village of Thar which is located on Islam Kot-Nangar Parkar Road 40 K. M. from Islam Kot and 25 K. M. from Nangar Parkar. Most of the population this village consists of poor Hindu Community. There was no water well in the area and the poor Hindu women have to daily travel 5-6 K. M. to fetch water for the their families. The team of Customs Health Care Society working on the drinking water for 40 villages of Thar project visited the area and was requested by the inhabitants for a water well in their goth. Seeing the emergent need of water and the poor conditon of the inhabitants, the digging of the water well was immediately started and after two months of digging, the sweet, fresh and hygienic water emerged from the water well. The news of fresh water from the well spread like a Jungle Fire and people of the goths specially the women and children gathered to celebrate the occassion. Some women of the goth cooked sweet rice and distributed the same among the children and women. The women of the goth are very happy to find a well of the sweet water at their door steps. Now they have more time to look after their children.

With the compleiton of this water well, 10 water wells have been completed in Thar from the donated amount as well as from the already available funds with the Customs Health Care Society. More over there has been rains in Tharparkar after 4 years of drought. The people of Tharparkar are very happy and they have know started growing fields of crops near the water wells and water which is spilled out during filling of water parts is now being used to grow crops like fodder for animals and maize.

QUENCHING THE THIRST OF DROUGHT HIT PEOPLE OF THAR PAKISTAN

Drinking Water for 40 Villages in Thar, Pakistan project with the collaboration of Global Giving Foundation is being implemented sucessfully. Under this project 9 wells of sweet drinking water have been completed which are providing clean drinking water to the hundreds of humans as well as animals of thar on daily basis, As submitted in the second report the work on 10 water wells was started from the funds already availabe with Customs Health Care Society on 19th May, 2016. These wells were started in different villages of Thar, among these wells five wells in the following villages of Thar have been completed:-

1. Goth (Village) Jagaree Bajeer District Mitthi

2. Goth (Village) Arnareeo, Islamkot,

3. Goth (Village)Phareeo, Islamkot.

4. Goth (Village) Davai, Diplo.

5. Goth (Village) Goth Batario, Islamkot.

The wells were completed in two month time and by the Grace of Almighty Allah, fresh, sweet and hygienic drinking water has emerged from these wells. One of the completed wells in Goth (Village) Goth Batario, Islamkot has been dedicated to the living memory of GREAT HUMANITARIAN OF PAKISTAN, MR. ABDUL SATTAR EDHI who breathed his last on 07th July, 2016. The people of the villages in general and the women and children are very happy to get water wells in their own villages and at their door steps. The women have to travel 5-10 Kilometer daily to fetch water from the water wells situated far and wide. Now with the completion of water wells in their own villages they are more comfortable as they get water for drinking and other puproses from one of the water wells in their own village dug by the Customs Health Care Society in collaboration with Global Giving Foundation under the on going project Drinking Water for 40 Villages in Thar Pakistan.

Completion as well as Digging of new Wells in Thar

Digging of a new Well with Global Giving

Customs Health Care Society started digging of 4 wells from the available funds which has been according now adjusted from the funds disbursed by Global Giving Foundation. The four wells have been completed within time span of two months in different Goths (villages) Islamkot, Thar. The names of these villages are AKLO SAMMA, GOHTAM JIVAND, LAKHIO TOBHO, JHUND. The teams of CHCS under ther supervision of Project leader recently visited these areas to personally witnessed the people and animals drinking water from these wells.

10 more places have also been selected for construction of new wells and digging has been started.

A middle aged women LAKSHMI of Goth AKLO SAMMA tells her story as under

Story

I am 35 years old and i have 4 kids, 2 of them are girls, we are living in AKLO SAMMA. here water was very scarce. I along with my young girls had to fetch water from the well of nearby village which was 5-6 kilometers away from our home sometimes twice a day, This takes almost 5-7 hours of a regular day. One day i got up early in the morning and started my usual journey to fetch water when my neighbour broke me the great news that a new well has been constructed by the team of CHCS in collabration with Global Giving Foundation. We went to the place and filled up our pitcher from the new wells and we were back with the pitchers within 15 minutes. The new Water well in our Goth has made my life comfortable.
