The Customs Health Care Society has started the digging of water wells for the drought hit people of Thar from the already available resources in anticipation of funds donated through GlobalGiving for our project "Drinking water for 40 Villages of Thar Pakistan". Whenever the digging of a new well starts, there is spectacular scene, men, women and children of the area gather and pray for sweet drinking water. The women is their traditional attire distribute sugar and also mix sugar with the sand. They belive that due to this action, sweet water will emerge for the water well. Customs Health Care Society under the project has initially selected four small villages of Thar for digging of new water wells. The digging has been started and it will be completed in due course of time til the water emerges. The depth of the well ranges from 100 feet to 300 feet. As the digging is done maunally, normally it takes 2 to 3 months to complete the process of digging and emerging of fresh water.
