Dear Donors,
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is one of the most respected international youth achievement programmes in the world, open to young people aged 14–24. It is an education and learning framework that encourages personal growth through activities in volunteering, physical recreation, and adventure. Participants work towards three levels — Bronze, Silver, and Gold — and all participants commit to regular volunteering in areas relevant to their personal interests and goals. The core purpose is to build confidence and independence while young people pursue their own ambitions.
For YouMeWe, this partnership directly supports our Skills for Life programme pillar, which focuses on equipping institutionalised teens with the communication skills, resilience, and community engagement they need to build stable, independent futures. Under the mentorship framework that the Duke of Edinburgh Award provides, our young people now have a structured pathway to set personal goals, develop practical skills, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and receive global recognition for their efforts. For youth growing up in institutional homes, that kind of opportunity can be genuinely life-changing.
YouMeWe has been walking alongside youth in care for 17 years, and becoming a Duke of Edinburgh Award centre is one more way we are making sure the young people we support have access to the same opportunities as everyone else.
Building Our Capacity
We are committed to delivering this programme to the highest standard. As part of our preparation, 2 of our staff members are currently undertaking Level 2 training to become qualified Award Leaders. This training ensures that our team has the skills and knowledge to guide participants effectively through each stage of the Award and provide them with the best possible support on their journey.
Your donations make this work possible. Every contribution brings us closer to the goal of giving more young people in our care the chance to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support.
Together, we are opening doors for young people who deserve every opportunity to dream, to grow, and to achieve.
Warm regards,
YouMeWe Team.
