Tibu Africa and its sustainable response:

Tibu Africa, as an organization dedicated to using sports for creating social and innovative solutions in the fields of education, empowerment, and socio-economic inclusion for young people and women, has committed itself to the disaster-affected villages in Taroudant following the devastating earthquake on September 8, 2023, in Morocco.

Funds utilization:

1 - Emergency aid Immediate response focused on 6 villages in the province of Taroudant. Distribution of emergency aid kits, including food, water, hygiene products, and medical supplies, within the first week. Provision of temporary shelter, such as tents and thermal blankets, within the first week. Deployment of a support team to provide psychosocial assistance, starting in the first week and continuing for the first 30 days.

2 - Rehabilitation of community schools and daycare centers: A significant portion of the funds allocated by GlobalGiving has been directed towards the rehabilitation of local schools and daycare centers, a crucial initiative to ensure the continuity of children's education in the disaster-affected region.

• The renovation of infrastructure has allowed the restoration of safe and conducive classrooms for learning.
• The distribution of essential school furniture has improved the learning environment. School supplies have ensured students' access to crucial educational resources.
• The setup of computer equipment, including computers, projectors, and other devices, has modernized teaching methods.

3 - Launch of the sports-based education program (Sports Generation) for the youth of the villages:

The Sports-Based Education Program aims to provide public primary schools with Health-Sports instructors to offer children access to quality sports-based education that preserves their health. It aims to encourage students and their parents to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, contributing to the development of their self-esteem and motor, cognitive, and socio-affective skills. This program aims to ensure healthy growth and improve students' skills through the guidance and supervision of Health-Sports instructors trained by Tibu Africa. In response to the earthquake in Taroudant, we have implemented this program to support affected children and promote their well-being through sports and education.

The special sports events and educational sessions brought joy and relief to the youth. The community screening of a major sports event created a positive environment for entertainment and gathering. These programs fostered the emotional resilience of children and young adults. The contribution from GlobalGiving has provided moments of comfort and fun, contributing to the emotional healing of the youth.

Psychological Support and Counseling: Psychological support plays a vital role in the post-disaster period. It provides those affected with a space to express their emotions, manage stress and trauma, and promotes resilience. Mental health professionals offer attentive listening and tools to help survivors rebuild their emotional well-being. This psychological assistance is a cornerstone of our mission in Taroudant, providing holistic support to the disasteraffected communities and helping them recover on the path to reconstruction.

Impact on the local community: The intervention by Tibu Africa has left a lasting impression on the local community. Fatema, a resident of the village of Titale, shared her testimony: 'We are impressed by the return of this organization, made up of young Moroccan women and men who came to us in early September with trucks filled with tents, mattresses, clothing, hygiene kits, and food aid. she added that this initial intervention impacted not only the 260 families of Titale but also the surrounding villages. The next day, a company commissioned by Tibu Africa set up in the village to undertake the construction of classrooms and educational spaces necessary for the well-being and education of the children. Local residents actively participated in the construction of the 'School of Champions.This story highlights the tangible impact of Tibu Africa's initiatives on the ground, marking a significant moment in the lives of these disaster-affected communities.
