One of the biggest problems in our country is the lack of adequate academic training. Several of the states of Mexico suffer from an important educational lag, including the Chiapas entity. Therefore, there must be spaces such as the Yo’onik educational center, a project carried out by the Women Sowing Life cooperative.
The Yo’onik educational center is of vital importance to the Zinacantán community since they have been in charge of giving educational follow-up to children in the community for years. Implementing a diversity of workshops with the following themes: accompaniment in mathematics, reading, and writing, environmental education, psychology, English. All these workshops are also focused on teaching the customs and traditions of the community. Since 2010, we have worked for the benefit of infants, creating a safe, fun and reliable place for Zinacantán children to have optimal and integral support in their educational development.
However, the educational center space is in disuse due to the earthquake of September 7. The structure is damaged and the spaces to receive classes are not in an optimal state. Due to this situation, impact NGOs and Women sowing life joined forces to rehabilitate this educational center. The importance of this reconstruction work lies in the possibility of generating safe spaces so that the children of the Zinacantán community have access to basic and integral education. Thanks to your donations, we can impact the lives of hundreds of girls and boys.
