Climate crisis-induced drought, regional and local conflict, and long-reaching impacts of the war in Ukraine, COVID-19, and an Mpox virus outbreak are creating a dire food insecurity in multiple countries, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan. Your donation to the East Africa Hunger Relief Fund will provide emergency relief, food, water, medicine, and other essential supplies to people in need.
More than 40 million people across several East African nations, including Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, and Sudan, are confronting a deadly hunger crisis. As the region has been affected by conflicts, droughts, flooding, and economic pressures, communities continue to be displaced, lose livelihoods and livestock, and struggle to access food and water. Compounding extreme hunger are recurrent weather-related disasters. Your support is vital for these communities' survival and recovery.
All donations to this fund will support hunger relief efforts in East Africa. Initially, the fund will help local, vetted partners address the affected communities' immediate needs, such as access to food, clean water, basic sanitation, and medical care. The fund will later transition to focus support on longer-term recovery efforts run by local organizations, such as climate adaptive agriculture practices and peace-building, to address drivers of food insecurity.
