Thank you for your generous contribution to the East Africa Hunger Relief Fund. Your donations continue to make a difference, ensuring communities have access to food, water, sustainable livelihoods, and urgent assistance across the Horn of Africa.

Since we last updated you, your contribution to the fund supported five grants to high-impact, vetted partners across Ethiopia and South Sudan. These resources were essential, as our partners faced the dual challenges of addressing ongoing humanitarian crises in their countries while also responding to sudden-onset disasters, such as mass flooding

With this context in mind, here is a short description of some of the critical work you’ve supported:

  • All My Sisters Around the World for Peace offers livelihood and skills training for single female-headed households in Tigray, while also addressing general food insecurity by providing 10 quintals of flour to schoolchildren in Shire. As a women-led organization, All My Sisters emphasizes peacebuilding through both emergency aid and gender-responsive initiatives.
  • People's Initiative Development Organization (PIDO) distributes blankets, utensils, soaps, and mosquito nets to around 3,000 vulnerable households in Mayom County, Unity State, where floods have displaced tens of thousands of residents. The focus will be on those most affected, such as children and the elderly, recognizing that all communities in South Sudan who have been forced to move are at greater risk of hunger and hardship.

Your support of the GlobalGiving East Africa Hunger Relief Fund powers community-led responses to challenges both urgent and chronic—and along the way offers hope that together a better future is possible.

As South Sudan Grassroots Initiative for Development’s project leader, Romano, shared:

“Thank you once again for standing with us in this critical time. Your support not only strengthens our ability to respond but also brings hope and resilience to the affected communities we serve.”

Together with our partners, we sincerely thank you once again for your continued solidarity.

With gratitude,

Kyra + the GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
