5th Progress Report

Empower Develop Dignify(EDD) thanks to the fruitful partnership with GlobalGiving and donors around the world who contribute to the children learning program which made us reach where we are currently.

EDD take this opportunity to reach to you guys who choose to support EDD and made us reach the target of school this academic year particularly in this school term where we hosted 99 students in total which include 25 students in primary , 25 students in pre-primary three, 24 students in pre-primary two and 25 students in pre-primary one as the youngest).

The main activities carried through this 3rd term were focusing on learning activities which focus on theme development, projects and core curriculum activities which includes IT, music, dance etc...

Family program, we have a parent meeting which had two main purposes of advocating how they should look after their children according to the child development milestone and how they should prepare a proper diaties.It went well and appreciate their contributions and participations which made the meeting successful

Graduation Ceremony : EDD hosted a yearly event on 3rd July 2024 which put together all teachers,other staff, parents, siblings and other stakeholders.the event was amazing and given the joy of the closer year.

Story-Marie Jeanne : I am not sure if everyone could define the support given to our children and families like me in life of my family.March 2024,my husband had an issue and went in gel for the case of raping a child which is not true case but because of the cot procedures, he is still in gel and don't know when the case will be solved and get a chance to have my husband back home. I didn't have a job and I was looking after my two children and husband. After he gelled , it became a big issue and made me strange to think what is next. After four days, I got a job and the children are spending their full day at EDD and picking them up after work around 4-5pm. I can't find words to express my thanks to EDD for serving me ! Secondly, with the income I am earling, my children were not supposed to be able to study in this great school. I thank EDD and all its supporters.

The journey was supposed to remain impossible without your contribution

EDD focuses on empowering children for low income families and prepares for the bright future! EDD believes that holistic education which matures the mindfulness education through education which brings all learning opportunities in front of a child from an early age will give a better pavement to excel in their future.We have 99 children under our 4 classes (25 students in Pre Primary one ,24 students in Pre Primary two ,25 Pre Primary three and 25 students in Primary one).

You will see some of the updates of our progress explaining the projects and playful learning of children at EDD.

Learning approach

Our focus was a more playfully learning approach where a child centered approach and playful program which natures the mindful learning opportunities to those young children. In partnership with Teach Rwanda, they helped teachers to make sure that they are learning and developing effectively.

Teacher and Staff Professional development Program

For Safety of the EDD community, EDD organized a training on First Aids Training which involves all teachers and other staff. It was a great opportunity to see how we can support children to study and be safe under EDD premises and outside.

Avail all stationeries

With at least the raised amount, we managed to pay the students stationeries in this second school term of year and went well in general even if we still need some subject books where we need a book for each student, some class utensils, Music instruments,sensory items etc..

Aline : I am a student of Primary one , i love being in class since we have a variety of materials we play with like brocks , Lego etc... I love doing projects with my classmates ! I am studying hard and plan to be a pilot.

3rd EDD Progress Report

Empower Develop Dognify thanks to the contribution of globalgiving and all of you who are generous to support this education program to the children from vulnerable families. We are taking the opportunity to update you of the great achievements we achieved together in the past four months. All of you who stand with us, this journey was supposed to remain impossible without your support!

EDD Primary school Launch

EDD has been running a Preschool program for about two years and took a big decision to extend it to a primary school program !

25 September 2023, We started a new year with 25 new students who got a chance to be a part of the program, joined the 75 students who were already under the program and reached 100 students in total.

We have done a lot inorder to start Primary school and all went so far and rejoicing the synergy between all key players in this journey (teachers,staff,board, sponsors, and other partners).

Teacher professional development program

EDD partnered with Teach Rwanda in professional development to specifically support teachers in advancing in teaching methodology, child development and attune to the world of children.

The program went well and thank you all for allowing us to pay the amount and resources required .

EDD recruited 2 more teachers for primary class. We started with Primary one class and plan to add a class every year. We are still counting on your support to reach that target.

Story of a Teacher

I am called Teacher Sophie, I am a teacher and glad that I am part of the EDD program and got different teacher professional development training ! Since the beginning I received different training in my area which helps me and equip me with the right skills needed in assisting children. I thank EDD and its partners in this journey of supporting children from vulnerable children.

Let’s end here and call you once again to join more in supporting children who are benefiting from education support! This is the only easy way we can reach children in need and change their life once for all !
