Why Online Education in a Conflict-Ridden Region?

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

Today, I want to share a little story about why we decided to use technology to provide education in northern Syria, even though many students are used to learning in classrooms and tents.

Take Mohammed. His family had to move several times because of the ongoing conflict. Each time they moved, Mohammed had to leave his school behind. But with our online educational and support programs, all he needs now is a phone and an internet connection. No matter where he goes, his education goes with him. Your generous donations have made it possible for us to provide phones and internet access to students who couldn’t afford these minimum requirements, ensuring they can continue learning despite the chaos around them.

But that’s not the only reason. Scalability: Our online model started small, with just 400 students in the first year. But with your support, we’ve grown tremendously. Since then, we have welcomed 31,322 students, including over 2,000 who were affected by the devastating earthquake that hit northern Syria and Turkey.
And let’s not forget the financial side. Because of your continuous support, we can offer our services free of charge. Not just education, but you help equip them with all the necessary skills.

Accessible, scalable, and cost-effective. That’s why we chose online education.

Thank you for being a crucial part of this journey. Your support sows the seeds of success for the next generation to carry on. Together, we are making a real difference in the lives of children in northern Syria.
