How Did Art Change Students' Perception of Themselves?

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

Can a Simple Artistic Activity Change the Way Students Think?

This is exactly what happened in a paper-quilling workshop as part of the student activities program, where students had an experience that changed their perception of themselves.

Imagine a child, for the first time, holding a piece of paper between their small fingers, rolling and shaping it, only to realize they have created something unique. It is not just a piece of paper—it is a moment of discovery, a first step toward self-confidence and creativity.

What can a simple exercise like this offer? More than you might think! Behind every color, every fold, there are lessons being instilled in the student without them even realizing:

  • Patience and perseverance – Learning that beauty is worth the wait and that every small step brings us closer to our goal.
  • Self-confidence – Seeing creativity come to life in their own hands reinforces their belief in their abilities.
  • Self-expression – Art is not just about shapes; it is a means of communication without words.
  • A sense of achievement – That one moment when a student sees the tangible result of their effort.

But the true impact of this experience extends beyond the classroom. They have gained a skill that could lead them to new opportunities, felt a sense of accomplishment, and learned that creativity can be a tool for self-expression and stress relief.

Every paper fold, every chosen color, and every completed design was a step toward personal growth. That is why investing in creativity is not just a recreational activity but a step toward building a brighter future.

Thank you for believing in their potential. Thank you for investing in the future.
