A Guide to Understanding Themselves

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

Your generous support does more than provide learning opportunities for refugee students in northern Syria. It also helps them discover that education is not only about academic progress, but about growing as whole human beings.

Through Masarat’s academic guidance program, students are encouraged to reflect on themselves, understand their emotions, build healthier relationships, and think more clearly about the lives they want to shape.

In one of the sessions of the “Discovering the Personal Map” program, students used a self-reflection workbook as a practical tool to explore important questions: What gives my life meaning? What makes me feel satisfied? What goals do I want to work toward? How can I connect with others in a healthier and more positive way?

This kind of activity gives students space to pause and think.

For young people who have experienced displacement and hardship, such reflection can be deeply valuable. It helps them move beyond daily pressure and begin to see themselves with more awareness. It also supports their emotional well-being by encouraging expression, connection, and a stronger sense of purpose.

The workbook does not give students ready-made answers. It invites them to discover their own.

Through guided exercises and interactive activities, students begin to identify their personal goals, life directions, sources of happiness, and ways to strengthen communication with those around them.

Because of your generosity, students at Masarat are not only learning how to succeed academically. They are also learning how to understand themselves, care for their well-being, and move toward life with more confidence, balance, and hope.

Thank you for helping enrich students’ lives from the inside out.
