The girls express their gratitude for your support

Thanks to the generosity of donors like yourselves, Bothoor Alkhaer recently visited several schools in Diyala, Iraq, to provide essential school supplies, offering practical support and encouragement to students who are often overlooked.

With your support, the students received clothes, books, crayons, and pencils—essential tools not only for learning but also for creativity, self-expression, and self-confidence. These simple yet effective tools help students fully engage in their education and feel valued in their classrooms.

The primary school we support is for girls and is supported by the government through the Ministry of Education. Despite the school’s pivotal role in providing educational opportunities for girls, resources are limited, making the support of donors invaluable.

Your generosity sends a powerful message to these students: You are seen, you are capable, and you matter. By investing in inclusive education, you are helping ensure that every child—regardless of their abilities—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Learning Journey: Sama's Story of Hope and Ambitio

Sama* is a 11-year-old girl from a remote village in the Baqubah district of Diyala Governorate. She lives with her parents, grandparents, four sisters, and one brother. Her family relies on agriculture and often migrates to remote areas for manual labor. As a result, Ananya has not been enrolled in school.

During a field survey in the area, Shifa, the field coordinator for Seeds of Goodness, visited Sama's home and found her at home. Her parents were busy farming, while Sama stayed behind to care for her younger siblings and help with the housework.

When Shifa later met her parents, he spoke to them. They said, "It's better if you help around the house while we work in the fields." Despite several conversations, they were unwilling to change their minds.

Shifa then visited the local village school to discuss Ananya's situation with the teacher. Shifa and the teacher decided to visit Sama's home to speak to her father. He again refused.

The next day, Shifa met with the area's mukhtar and explained Ananya's situation. He asked him to accompany him to Sama's home and speak with the family. During the visit, Shifa shared examples of the difference education makes. He also shared his personal story—how education has empowered him to work and support others. This time, the message got through. Ananya's parents finally agreed to send her to school.

Shifa then helped them prepare all the necessary documents. Because Sama didn't have a "school" card, he accompanied her parents to the hospital to obtain her birth certificate. He then accompanied them to the civil registration center to issue her card.

After all the documents were prepared, Sama was finally enrolled in the first grade of the village's public school. Now, Sama goes to school every day with her friends, smiling and excited to learn. Seeing this, her parents were happy and grateful. They expressed their sincere thanks to the field coordinator, Shifa, and the primary school teacher for helping them understand the importance of education.

Milestones of Hope and Progress

Warm greetings from the Bothoor Alkhaer family in Iraq!!

We are pleased to present to you our achievements report, which represents 21 years of dedicated service to marginalized communities in Iraq. Our efforts have focused on empowering girls and women, promoting education, sustainable livelihoods, and addressing various social and environmental issues.

Empowering Women!!

Bothoor Alkhaer Organization (BAORD) works tirelessly to empower women, girls, and children in rural and marginalized areas. Through various initiatives, including self-help groups, Her Voice: Stop Violence Against Women, life skills training, entrepreneurship, and leadership, Bothoor Alkhaer has reached approximately 10,230 beneficiaries. These initiatives aim to promote economic empowerment, social justice, human rights, and empower girls and children. Bothoor Alkhaer Iraq has provided training, capacity building, and support to women, enabling them to become agents of change in their communities.

Education!!

About 210 girls from smart rural schools have benefited from Bothoor Alkhaer educational initiatives, including primary schools, and the Education for Every Girl project. These programs focused on promoting girls’ education, reducing dropout rates, and improving academic performance. Bothoor Alkhaer Organization provided scholarships, educational materials, and support to girls from marginalized communities, enabling them to achieve their educational goals.

Disability!!
Bothoor Alkhaer Organization’s Disability Empowerment Project supported approximately 35 persons with disabilities, children with disabilities, and their families. The project provided support in the health, education, livelihood, social sector, and empowerment sectors. Bothoor Alkhaer Organization Iraq worked to promote inclusive development, social justice, and human rights for persons with disabilities.

We are grateful for the support of our donors, partners, and volunteers, who have enabled us to make a positive impact in the lives of thousands of people. We look forward to continuing our work towards creating a more equitable and sustainable society.
