Jamaica is a land of extremes. Not far from wealthy enclaves, significant numbers of Jamaicans live in squalor, suffering from poor housing, limited food supply and inadequate access to clean water, quality health care or education. In these Jamaican households, more than half of the family income is spent to purchase food and beverages for daily survival. The Jamaican government is committed to educating its children, but there are not enough schools to provide opportunities for all.
Christel House works to break the cycle of poverty for children - over 350 students with top-quality K-6 education. Our holistic model supports each of our students for 18+ years. This in-depth, whole-child approach integrates rigorous academic learning with nutrition and healthcare, life skills, social support, and college and career guidance. It's a deep commitment that helps students demonstrate that they have limitless potential.
Our schools are at the heart of what we do, serving as the critical bridge between poverty and successful life outcomes for children in some of the most under-resourced communities around the world.
