Your support matters

By Lori Pyle | Executive Director

Dear Friends and GlobalGiving Supporters,

Thank you. The milestones we are sharing in this report exist because of you. Your generous contributions have kept children in classrooms, fed hungry learners so they can concentrate, and empowered teachers to do their very best work. Sierra Leone continues to face significant educational challenges, but thanks to supporters like you, 185 children in our community are gaining the education and nourishment they need to build bright, confident futures.

Summer School Update

Our Summer School Program officially concluded on August 20, 2026, wrapping up a productive season of learning. Rather than allowing the long school break to become a gap in children's educational journeys, our summer program kept students engaged and growing. Community participation was strong throughout the summer, reflecting the deep commitment families and neighbors have to this project. Our feeding program ensured that no student sat in a classroom on an empty stomach, and we saw the difference that makes every single day.

NPSE Results

We are thrilled to share our headline achievement: all 23 students who sat the 2026 National Primary School Examination (NPSE) passed at a 100% pass rate. Every single one. The NPSE is the gateway exam that determines whether primary school students can advance to secondary education in Sierra Leone, making this a life changing milestone for each of those 23 children. This result is made possible by the tutoring, learning materials, and daily meals your donations fund, and we honor every student who sat that exam and every teacher who prepared them.

Teacher Professional Development

This summer, our teachers participated in dedicated professional development training designed to sharpen instructional skills and strengthen their ability to support students with varying needs. Better-equipped teachers create better learning environments, and as the new school year begins, our educators are returning to their classrooms with renewed energy and fresh skills. This investment in our teachers is what sustainable educational improvement looks like and it is made possible by your ongoing support.

School Renovation and Reopening

Behind the scenes this summer, our school underwent meaningful renovation and reopening preparations, transforming the physical learning environment into a space that is safer, more welcoming, and better suited to helping children thrive. The school is scheduled to reopen on September 7, 2026. When those doors open, children will walk into a space that has been cared for with them in mind, a message that is only possible because you, our donors, invested first.

University Student Updates

Nothing illustrates the long-term power of this project more than seeing the children we once supported in their early schooling years now reaching university. Our project-supported university-level students are currently on recess until October.

Looking Ahead

With the school reopening on September 7, 2026, our community is stepping into a fresh and hopeful new academic year. Our teachers are trained and ready. Our classrooms are renovated and welcoming. Our students are energized by a summer of learning and a 100% exam pass rate that shows them and the world just what they are capable of. Your continued support will go directly toward daily nutritious meals, school supplies, ongoing teacher training, and supporting students as they advance toward higher education. We warmly invite you to share this project with your friends and family as every new donor means another child gets a chance. When we look at those 23 NPSE results with 23 passes, 23 doors opened, 23 futures brightened, we think of you. When a child sits down to a warm meal before a morning of learning, we think of you. Your generosity is not abstract it is visible in test scores, in smiling faces, and in futures being built day by day in Sierra Leone.

Thank you for believing in these 185 children and for making their futures possible.

With gratitude and hope,

Lori and the Project Team
