The children of Santa Rosalia, Mexico deserve a high quality education that will pave the way for their future success as contributing members of the community. Our goal is to expand our program to more schools so that we can provide 360 more students with a comprehensive social emotional learning program that will support them in reaching their full potential.
Due to a lack of resources, many children are deprived of the opportunity to have rich character development experiences which would create a well-rounded learning environment focused on the whole child. Without explicit instruction on how to apply key values such as responsibility, collaboration or teamwork, it can be a challenge for children to integrate as young adults and become contributing members of the community after completing high school.
Our "Educate for Life" program is a character development curriculum for school-age children that uses hands-on learning experiences, arts and theater, and community engagement to teach children important values such as empathy, respect, and responsibility. We currently operate successfully in one elementary school. Teachers, parents, and students have requested that the program operate in more schools in our community. To do so, we need to hire and train additional teachers so we can expand.
To lead fulfilling lives, students need support in developing social emotional skills as well as academic skills. By expanding our program to all Santa Rosalia children, we can provide students with continuity from year to year and have a long lasting impact on their ability to succeed in school, careers, and day-to-day life as active members of the community.
