Another exciting 3 months has passed with activities as follows:
Music Therapy Workshop on 05/07/16
Oasis Place, KL conducted a music therapy workshop for our students and their parents, young adult trainees and staff. It was a fun-filled, educational session as we played and experimented sounds with various musical instruments. We were also able to participate in music related activities such as playing parachute and making musical movements.
YAP cafe operation on 21/07/16
We had a group of 16 visitors from Korea to our centre. They attended a briefing about Wings Melaka before heading to our YAP cafe for lunch. His team had special performances with a guitar, a violin, singing and a balloon sculpting session with our YAP trainees.
Coffee Session on 22/07/16
Parents brought different types of food and had a great time of sharing and getting to know one another over dinner. Our event was graced by our advisor, Mrs Yammy as she shared about her experiences and methods she used to help her son who is now a young working adult. It was also an interactive session as parents shared about their concerns and encouraged one another as they work with their children.
Parents Support Group on 20/08/16
Our guest speaker for the event was Dr Alefiya who shared about Functional Behaviour Analysis (FBA). It was a workshop and hands-on session as parents learnt more on how to understand, to identify and to manage their children's respective behaviours. She also shared tips and methods that parents could use to reinforce positive values or behaviours.
YAP Term Break Outing on 15/09/16
Some of our YAP staff, trainees, their families and friends went for a one day trip to Sekinchan, Selangor. They had a great outdoor time together as they walked through the paddy fields and visited the landmarks and the township of Sekinchan.
We also had a group of 6 from America who came to volunteer at our centre from 29/08/16 to 02/09/16.
To-date, we have 25 students in EIP, 6 students in Pre-SAP, 14 students in SAP and 8 trainees in YAP – supported by a staff of 6 EIP/SAP teachers, 5 trainers, 1 head coach and 1 administrator.
We thank you for your continuous support in our work as it enables us to reach out and help more families who are in need.
