Challenge

The community is deeply rural and economically backward characterized by a lack of industries and job opportunities. The population is very young:54,8% are between the age of 15 and 64 years. An unemployment rate of 47%. 54% of the households are headed by females, 634 are under 18. 3.3% of 634 are child-headed living in shacks with an income of less than $200 per year. 33.3% complete 12th grade. Refuse removal is 1,4%. Piped water inside a dwelling is 5,3%, 76.6% has NO access to electricity.

Solution

Awareness, education, training, development of the 634 women headed and the community at large on climate change, renewable energy use, skilling on solar-based technologies. Education and skills are the final shared outcomes to these women-headed households, the greater community and other households will in return also be educated. By starting to know, understand and use alternative solutions will directly solve the current problems. It is practical as all education and training are hands-on.

Long-Term Impact

Over 634 direct women and youth and over 5,000 households will rise out of poverty. Awareness to the community will impact over 39,614 households over time. reduction of people suffering from hunger, more safe drinking water, and reduction of extreme poverty. Real-life contribution towards sustainable development goals. The unemployed youth will develop the skills they need to build and sustain the community.
