The Clinica de Esperanza is not just about taking care of patients, giving them proper treatment and medication. It is also about education. Medical education, dental education, and nutritional education. This year we have decided to assist in the eduction of nurses in a Honduran Nursing school. This willl assist in teaching them skills that will help in their profession and help people in need.
This year's interns are from Escuela e Instituto Christian Technológico Juan Pablo. They have completed some of their formal education and are now doing internships at various locations. The clinic has decided to tutor 3 interns.
1. Gladis
2. Erika
3. Suyapa
They will be taught to interact with patients, triage patients, give injections, give respiratory treatments, provide wound care, and assist in surgerical procedures. They will also get a working knowlede of pharmaceuticals used to care for patients, the indications, side effects and drug interactions.
The clinic will provide a stipend, paid directly to the school for their education after intership is completed. The nurses do not know this so it will in no way effect the reason they show up for work or the effort they put into the educational opportunities.
Our hope is these future professionals will not only be able to support their own families but have an effect on those they serve.
