July 2026

Dear GlobalGiving Community,

Thank you for your continued support of menstrual health education in Cambodia. Following the successful completion of our 2023–2025 project in partnership with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport (MoEYS), we are excited to share progress from the first months of our new three-year partnership for 2026–2028.

This year, our focus has been on strengthening and expanding the network of teachers who are bringing menstrual health education into classrooms across Ratanakiri Province. Through refresher trainings, new teacher trainings, and direct collaboration with schools, we are building on the strong foundation established over the past several years and preparing to reach thousands more students with accurate, age-appropriate menstrual health education.

We began by reconnecting with teachers who have been part of the program since 2023. In April, Days for Girls delivered six Refresher Teacher Training sessions, reaching 129 teachers (71 female and 58 male) from 40 schools, including every secondary school in the province. These educators originally completed our three-day Teacher Training program between 2023 and 2025 and returned to reflect on their experiences delivering the curriculum, review student outcomes, and strengthen their knowledge and facilitation skills.

The sessions focused on reviewing 2025 monitoring and evaluation findings, discussing successes and challenges from the classroom, and identifying ways to further strengthen implementation. Teachers participated enthusiastically in interactive activities, including scenario role plays, reproductive health charades, and reviews of key menstrual and reproductive health concepts. Their engagement and commitment reaffirmed the important role educators play in creating supportive and informed learning environments for students.

The momentum continued in May as we celebrated Menstrual Hygiene Day in partnership with the Ratanakiri Department of Education, Youth and Sport, and 35 participating teachers. Integrated into a three-day teacher training workshop in Ban Lung, the event created space for teachers, education officials, and Days for Girls staff to discuss the importance of menstrual health within schools and communities. Participants completed commitment exercises centered on the themes, “To make my school period-positive, I will…” and “This Menstrual Hygiene Day, I commit to…”, reinforcing their shared commitment to ensuring every student can learn with dignity and confidence. The event was also featured by Ratanakiri News, marking the second time this year that Days for Girls’ work has been highlighted by the local media and helping raise awareness of menstrual health across the province.

At the same time, we expanded the program to a new cohort of educators. Between May and June, Days for Girls completed seven three-day teacher training workshops, welcoming 172 new teachers (59 female and 113 male) across 107 hours of training. These educators join the 174 teachers already trained through the project across the province.

With this latest rollout, all 35 secondary and high schools in Ratanakiri are now participating in the project, alongside an additional nine primary schools. This milestone significantly expands the reach of menstrual health education and strengthens opportunities for students throughout the province to learn about puberty, reproductive health, and menstruation in a supportive environment. The growing impact of this work was also recognized publicly, with the training program featured on Ratanakiri news.

Most importantly, this preparation is already translating into action in classrooms. Following the refresher and new teacher training sessions, Days for Girls began working alongside 23 participating schools to deliver menstrual health lessons directly to students. To date, we have reached 2,313 students (1,261 girls and 1,052 boys) across 54 classrooms, delivering 304.5 hours of menstrual health education, and distributed 1248 locally produced Days for Girls Kits to menstruating students.

Over the coming months, Days for Girls and our network of trained teachers will continue delivering menstrual health education throughout Ratanakiri Province. Together, we aim to reach at least 7,000 students across 44 schools and distribute at least 3,700 locally produced Days for Girls washable pad Kits to schoolgirls and teachers.

Thank you for helping create classrooms where menstrual health is understood, stigma is reduced, and students have the knowledge and support they need to thrive. Your support is helping build a future where every student can learn with confidence, dignity, and opportunity.

With gratitude,

The Days for Girls Team
