Educate HIV Orphans in Kenya

Dear friends,

What an amazing year 2014 was for Springs of Hope Foundation’s children, thanks to YOU!  Because of YOU, our children are healthy and they have returned to school for another year of what we anticipate will be another year of exceptional results. Because of YOU, our children have good food to eat.  Because of YOU, our children have livestock and seeds with which they learn essential, basic life skills. Traditionally these basic skills would be taught by parents, grandparents and extended family. For children orphaned by Hiv/Aids there is no one to teach these skills. 

Because of YOU, children like Hannah not only eat well, but also go to school dreaming of a future free of poverty, dreaming that she will someday become a doctor. And because of YOU it’s quite possible she will fulfill her dream. We don't have enough words to thank you for what you've done because it is huge...it is life changing.

Thank you for caring for the little ones we serve and for giving them a brighter future.  You are the ones who allow us to keep working for them, providing them with a safe place they call HOME, medicine, medical supplies, clean water, food, school fees and supplies, livestock, seeds, self-reliance and HOPE.

Thank you to everyone for making our first month with GlobalGiving such a huge success. While we have a long way to go to raise the funds needed to purchase our land, set up a permanent home for our children and construct well equipped classroom facilities we are thrilled with the results.

We already have several donated computers the children are using. Their biggest delight is sending and receiving letters from their pen pals in America. Even our young ones, while they have to stand on the chair to reach the screen, like to write their own letters with a little help from the older children. It’s so rewarding watching these orphaned children have access to technology that we take for granted.

Our students had their midterm exams last week. While we won’t get the results until the end of this week we are confident they will do exceptionally well. During the last exams several of our children came in first position, while one of our girls placed first in the district. This is exceptional for several reasons. Firstly the public school classes have between 55 to 100 students per classroom, when the children first come to live with us they have not been attending school consistently due to their family’s inability to pay for the extra’s needed to attend public school.
