Help Feed 250 Hungry Children in Kenya

Hello to all our wonderful friends and supporters,

I’m reaching out to share a massive thank you for sticking with us as we navigate what has been a really challenging season for our school in Kenya. Following on from our last update, I’m so happy to share that our classrooms are buzzing. We currently have 370 incredible children attending our school, all coming from the nearby slums, and their energy is what keeps us moving every single day.

One thing that really hit home for me recently is the sheer determination of our students. We have 12 children who walk over 5km every single morning just to reach us. They aren't just walking for an education; they are walking because they know that at the end of that journey, there is a nutritious meal and a safe place to be. It’s a huge reminder of how much this project matters.

I’ll be real with you—we know the world feels a bit heavy right now. With so much global unrest and political decisions that impact us all, we’ve seen a bigger drop in donations than ever before. It’s a tough irony that as more people are pushed toward poverty and homelessness, the demand for our help goes up just as the cash flow slows down. But even with an unknown future, we are staying positive because we have seen what this community can do when we pull together.

This is why I am so excited to share a way we can make our resources go further!

Please Save the Date for March 17th to the 20th. We are taking part in GlobalGiving’s Little by Little campaign, and it is the perfect "booster" for our project in Kenya. During these four days, every donation you make up to $50 will be matched at 50% while funds last.

• In our local markets in Kenya, that extra $25 is massive. It means more maize, more beans, and more fresh fruit for those 370 hungry bellies.

Dear friends and supporters,

Since our last update in July, life at our school in Kenya has continued with the same heart and dedication, thanks to your incredible support. Each morning, children still line up for their first bowl of cereal, a simple meal that gives them energy, focus, and dignity. It may seem small, but it makes a huge difference in their ability to learn and grow.

Over the past few months, we’ve faced challenges, as donations have slowed and our shelves have looked a little bare at times. But with careful planning and community support, we have kept every child fed, and the school day continues with laughter, learning, and curiosity. Fruit bowls at morning break, rice and beans at lunch, and clean water remain constants in their daily routine.

Our single cook continues to work tirelessly to prepare every meal with care and love. While it is a heavy responsibility, her dedication ensures that no child goes hungry. With your support, we hope one day soon to return to a two-cook system and restore chicken, vegetables, and more variety to the menu.

On the sustainability front, progress continues. Our vegetable garden and fruit tree initiative has reached 40% of its target, bringing us closer to a future where children can enjoy fresh produce grown right on the school grounds. By 2026, we expect the garden and fruit trees to supply a meaningful portion of the school’s meals, helping reduce costs and provide reliable access to fresh food.

In addition to meals, your donations continue to cover essentials like school uniforms, stationery, and weekend food parcels. These contributions ensure that every child feels part of the school community and has the tools they need to succeed.
