Help Feed 250 Hungry Children in Kenya

Our school is located in a particularly deprived area of Mombasa. Many children can't access education due to lack of facilities, resources and funds for teachers. This means that families and communities struggle to break the cycle of poverty. Health issues, in particular, hunger and its related ailments, keeps children away as food is prioritised over education.

Donations made to this project are used to subsidise teachers' wages and the Feeding Programme, which has been running since 2010. The feeding programme feeds around 250 children two nutritious meals a day, improving their health and concentration levels. We are also fundraising to build a new school with a veggie garden.

Children who are fed nutritious meals at school will be more able to engage with school activities and have greater prospects of reaching their full potential. A donation of just $15 per month will feed one child for the month we thank you for your support.

I’m reaching out to share a massive thank you for sticking with us as we navigate what has been a really challenging season for our school in Kenya. Following on from our last update, I’m so happy to share that our classrooms are buzzing. We currently have 370 incredible children attending our school, all coming from the nearby slums, and their energy is what keeps us moving every single day.

One thing that really hit home for me recently is the sheer determination of our students. We have 12 children who walk over 5km every single morning just to reach us. They aren't just walking for an education; they are walking because they know that at the end of that journey, there is a nutritious meal and a safe place to be. It’s a huge reminder of how much this project matters.

I’ll be real with you—we know the world feels a bit heavy right now. With so much global unrest and political decisions that impact us all, we’ve seen a bigger drop in donations than ever before. It’s a tough irony that as more people are pushed toward poverty and homelessness, the demand for our help goes up just as the cash flow slows down. But even with an unknown future, we are staying positive because we have seen what this community can do when we pull together.
