This project will help build brick walled classrooms to replace the mud walled semi-permanent classrooms currently used by 25 orphans and vulnerable children at the Bukhonzo Samar Children's Home and school situated in rural Uganda. The project will as well provide free nutritious meals and care for the children from rural villages in Bukhonzo location of Eastern Uganda. Donations towards this project will benefit 25 orphans providing them with meals and a suitable learning environment.
There are about 790,000 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS in Uganda according to the World Bank (2021). The scourge has committed 25 orphaned and vulnerable children to Bukhonzo Samar Children's Home. Without a public primary school close by, the children have no access to education in this rural village. Lack of adequate funding means the home is not able to provide a suitable learning environment and nutritious meals. This adversely affects the children's general health and overall development.
This project will build classrooms and provide nutritious meals and care for 25 orphans and vulnerable rural Ugandan children. The completion of an initial 5 brick walled classrooms will enable the children access good education in a suitable learning environment. Provision of nutritious meals will greatly improve their health and overall development. Later phases of the project will provide dormitories, more classrooms, a library, solar power and other facilities for the children.
This project will provide good primary education for 25 orphans and vulnerable rural Ugandan children and prepare them for high school. The feeding program will greatly improve their ability to concentrate in class while developing the children's general health and well-being enabling them to stay focused on school activities. A good education will ultimately raise literacy levels and help break the cycle of poverty and deprivation that is generally prevalent in rural Uganda.
