We all have rights!

By Maria Garcia | Project Leader

Girls for the fight of their rights
Girls for the fight of their rights

Within the framework of #8M (International Women's Day), we have carried out awareness-raising actions with children and adolescents, where they have been able to learn about the struggle of women in history and in their own communities and families.

We carry out different training actions for the recognition of women's rights that have been "denied" in history, just as we can from our reality help to ensure that they are fulfilled and build a more equitable society.

The objective of working with girls and adolescent women is the recognition of daily actions that are violence and that we naturalize because culture, society, the media, the family, etc., tell us so, but they should not happen.

We also reflect with male children and adolescents in order to reduce violent gender actions and that they know alternative ways of being men, so as not to repeat gender stereotypes.

We made a video to show this specific work, you can see it at this link: https://youtu.be/p0adgN1NtpA

During this first cycle of the year, more than 265 working children and adolescents from three public markets and two public schools have participated in educational activities.

We invite you to follow us on our social networks @melelxojobal and learn much more about our work.

On behalf of the entire Melel Xojobal team, we appreciate your constant solidarity for this project and we hope to continue counting on it, rest assured that it is correctly distributed among the population served.

Greetings to you and yours.

Thank you.
