The work approach carried out with children is through Popular Education, which is based on the premise that “teaching is not transferring knowledge, but creating possibilities for its production or construction”. For this reason, the work that we carry out in the three street spaces has as a component a school reinforcement, from day to day, through games and activities that allow generating and strengthening educational skills, as well as recognizing teaching at work as education, being a craftsman, a merchant, etc., promotes the development of capacities for the benefit of life.
The situation of the cOVID-19 pandemic does not make it clear when they will return to face-to-face classes, education continues to be distance education and the educational gap is growing, the challenge we are to face in the following months is to know how many children going back to school?
During work, we promote improved nutrition through the delivery of snacks to all attendees, teaching the importance of balanced nutrition.
At Melel we continue with educational support in markets and squares, but we know that we are going to have to redouble our efforts so that working children, when the time comes, go back to school.
Thank you for continuing to provide opportunities for the children of Chiapas.
