Introduction
Smile Charity South Sudan continues its efforts in providing tailored educational interventions in Bor County with the objective of ensuring quality education, teacher empowerment, and meeting the psychosocial needs of vulnerable children. This report summarizes the main accomplishments in the present implementation of the project.
2. Main Accomplishments
2.1 Assistance to Vulnerable Girls
Within the scope of assistance to girls’ education, Smile Charity South Sudan provided financial support to two vulnerable girls who were able to attend primary school classes in Bethel SDA Nursery and Primary School.
Result:
The sponsorship helped the beneficiaries stay in school, which lowered the chances of dropping out early, and increased their involvement and self-confidence in academics.
2.2 Psychosocial Support Interventions
Smile Charity South Sudan provided psychosocial support interventions to 100 children (60 Boys and 40 Girls) at Kon-beek Primary School.
Results:
Better emotional state of participating children
Better social interactions and relationships with peers
Greater engagement and focus in class
3. Impact
This initiative has resulted in:
Increased school attendance for disadvantaged girls
Better psychosocial state of children facing difficult circumstances
4. Obstacles
Constraints in resource availability to extend sponsorship services to more vulnerable learners
Demand for psycho-social services exceeding service capacity
Socio-economic difficulties hampering learner attendance
6. Recommendations
Extend sponsorship activities targeting girls to benefit more learners
Extend psycho-social service interventions to more schools
Enhance collaboration with community members to ensure lasting results
5. Conclusion
The “Empowering Teachers and Educating Kids in Bor County” project has shown remarkable success in empowering vulnerable learners and improving their educational performance. Continued efforts towards scaling up these initiatives will be vital in creating positive.
