The Sound of Hope: Update from Palestine
Dear friends,
Palestine is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Despite the ceasefire in January 2025, difficulties persist. Checkpoints and forced closures continue to limit access to essential goods, medical care and education. Palestinian families live in extremely vulnerable conditions, and children are among the most affected, facing the trauma of war, food and water shortages, and the denial of the right to education.
In this difficult context, the Epheta Institute in Bethlehem represents a beacon of hope for hearing-impaired children. It is the only school where they can learn to read and write, as public schools do not have the resources to support them. Given the increasing difficulties in reaching school, many children stay overnight at the institute, returning to their families only on weekends. Economic difficulties prevent many families from covering school and transport expenses, putting their children's education at risk. Thanks to specialized educational programs, these children receive the necessary tools for their scholastic and social integration. However, many live far from the school and the challenging travel conditions prevent regular attendance.
The desire and determination to keep going is stronger than ever! From early childhood, Epheta's children learn to recognize and pronounce words, demonstrating that even hearing-impaired students can develop verbal skills. Art also plays a key role in this journey: through colors and materials, children give life to beautiful creations while learning new words, transforming artistic expression into a powerful communication tool. Art strengthens self-confidence, improves self-expression and offers a creative means to explore emotions and the world around them that maybe, one day, can change.
More than ever, our support is essential. Each donation helps these children to continue their studies, develop autonomy and build a future full of opportunities. Together, we can break down barriers and ensure that no child is left behind!
Thank you
