Dear Donors,
we are glad to share news with all of you from our local partner the Effetà Institute and from Bethlehem after the summer break. As we all know, tensions and clashes are on the agenda in particular in the border areas and in the West Bank. The restrictions imposed on Palestinian continue and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) warns that the Palestinian Territories are facing the worst fiscal crisis in history, due also to lagging international support. The Palestinian economy is still reeling under the impact of Covid-19, with higher levels of unemployment and poverty in the occupied territories.
This news shows how important your support is to the most vulnerable children that live in Bethlehem and to the Effetà Institute. At the end of the last school year, the older students have undergone their final exam and we wish them the best for their future! After the summer holidays, the lessons are starting once again and the 27 specialized teachers are ready to welcome all the 190 students. With their knowledge and competences, they are able to provide a quality education and to answer to the needs of the children with a hearing disability.
Your support is fundamental and we are proud to give our contribution to the activities of the Effetà Institute!
Thank you!

Ephpheta children learning in team
Dear Donors,
our help to our local partner, the Ephpheta Institute in Bethlehem, has never stopped despite the clashes and tensions in the country. With this report we want to update all of you that support the project in favor of this special school for the audio phonetic rehabilitation of hearing-impaired children. During these last months all the children of the Institute have been involved in many activities that are part of a wider specialized educational and scholastic path.
The students of Ephpheta are always encouraged to learn and work together in team in order to stimulate their interests. For Mother’s Day the youngest children have created presents for their families and they have experienced new creative skills. Throughout the period from May 9th to May 20th, Ephpheta School conducted a science and art fair to tell the story of fifty years of “Ephpheta Paul VI” Institute. The students have presented their creations and if you want to see more about their projects and about the event you can watch the video at the following link: https://cmc-terrasanta.org/en/media/terra-santa-news/27047/science-and-art-fair-at-the-“ephpheta-paul-vi”-institute
We are also proud to inform all of you that at the beginning of this month the older high school students have taken part in their graduation ceremony and we wish them the best for their future.
We want to thank you for your constant support and we are sure that together we will generate a bigger positive impact for the students of Bethlehem with hearing disabilities!

NEWS from Effeta school!
By Debora De Siero | Project Leader

In November children have celebrated the International Day of Solidariety at school. The pandemic situation had a major impact on the Institute. Virtual classes and distance learning are not suitable for children with hearing disability because they need physical classroom with teachers to learn. For this reason, during all the restrictions imposed because of Covid-19 health emergency, the responsible of the center tried by all means to guarantee physical classroom.
Unfortunately, due to the increase of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country, Effetà school decided to bring the closing of the center forward in December. It was a difficult choice to make but our goal is above all the safety of our children and family. However, Santa Claus has coming to Effetà School! Children had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas together.
Our project has an essential role in their life! We would sincerely thank you for your support. Children with hearing disability need to receive an adequate education and thanks to your support we will able to guarantee them a better life and future.
