Education for children in Ecuador

With a quarter of the year already gone we are making great strides towards our main goals this year. With three-quarters of the school year in Ecuador completed, plans are already underway in how we can improve in September. Our aim is to add at least two more Phoenix teachers which will be funded by local sustainable income plans. The families are coming up with ideas which we aim to start implementing in the second half of the year. 

At the beginning of March, GlobalGiving's Emma spent a morning at the school which was fantastic. In her own words "I had a great site visit - it was great to meet Jaime, Nancy and the other teachers on the ground. It was also great to interact with the children - their knowledge and abilities in 3 languages was fantastic to see!"

Our investment into Sustainable Income Plans is atop of our agenda for 2017 which not only provide income for the schools though also provide extra income for the local families. In a bid to raise these funds the third Phoenix Seven Continent Charity Challenge got underway in Guatemala on 22nd March, summiting Volcano Tajumulco, the highest point in Central America. As a bonus, GlobalGiving will be running its Little by Little Matching Campaign from 3^rd to 7^th April, designed to celebrate the power of small donations and the power of the crowd. As the school year heads into the second half, plans are underway to add more local teachers for when the new term starts in September. With the teachers covering two classes the need is stark and real. Yet more children have been able to move on to secondary school having graduated from our school as family sustainable income plans we are introducing provide the necessary extra money to fund this. Our aim over the next two years is to set up local businesses for our graduates from college and University.

The third Seven Continent Charity Challenge gets underway in Guatemala on Tuesday 21st March 2017 to raise funds for project costs and employment opportunities for our graduates, as mentionned above, climbing Volcano Tajumulco, the highest point in Central America.
