As we come close to US Mother's Day on May 12, we are focusing on supporting our Moms in Ecuador!
This month, across Latin America in our projects we have gone Mom crazy! Ecuador shares its Mother's Day with the US and in Ecuador they have been spending more time focusing on our Moms in the projects. Plan Ironwoman continues to be a huge success, so much so we have started it in our projects in Guatemala as well.
In Ecuador we have planted Iron-rich vegetables which are known to be the best veggies to help pre-natal nutrition for Mom and baby. The Moms in the village tend to the vegetables and when they are ready they are distributed to the families for the Moms and babies. The project has become such a success we now have a surplus of vegetables and so the Moms bring them into the school to supplement the children's diet at school too. This plan is running really well and as a pilot scheme is becoming hugely significant in the families health.
We are part of Global Giving's Mother's Day campaign this year, celebrating Moms in the US and Ecuador through one gift. If you would like to support Mom's in Ecuador, whilst gifting your Mom a handmade scarf and set of worry dolls then please take a look at our gift:
