We have closed the second term now and are on June holidays for a few weeks. Our ECD programme has been going well as they move through the first half of themes in their curriculum. They have gone through the "Me", "My Home & Family", "My town and community" and "Water".
They used a lot of songs to help teach the different themes, especially for learning the "Caring for myself" theme. They traced and painted their foot prints to work on their painting and hand-eye skills.
As part of learning about the community and sense of touch, they interacted with one of the Thanda dogs, Shady. All our programmes work with Shady to learn respect for animals. The ECD group enjoyed playing with Shady, and she of course loved the attention!
This term the ECD group also got a very special visitor. Spiderman himself, who they all know and love, came to visit and help them feel like they were flying! It was a special treat for our learners and a day they are sure to never forget!
Having a second ECD teacher has helped to manage the larger group and provide more individual attention. The ECD kids love being a part of the events that go on as part of the after-school programme.
We look forward to completing the second half of our first full year and seeing the impact of our dedicated curriculum.
Thank you again for all your support!
