Sudanese refugee women and families in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda, face escalating hunger, water shortages, and unsafe living conditions as humanitarian funding declines and food assistance is cut. Overcrowding and limited services leave mothers and children especially vulnerable to malnutrition, illness, and exposure. The most at risk include women-led households, young children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Many arrive with nothing after fleeing conflict.
American Aid (A A Relief) will deliver urgent emergency relief to the most vulnerable households in Kiryandongo through local partners. We will provide staple food items (rice, posho, beans, salt, cooking oil, soap), clean water support, mattresses for safe sleeping, and essential clothing for women and children. Distributions will prioritize women-led families and high-risk cases. We will document delivery and share updates. Our on-the-ground team will oversee distributions and verification.
This project will stabilize refugee families during a critical period by reducing hunger, preventing illness linked to unsafe water and poor hygiene, and restoring dignity through bedding and clothing. With immediate survival needs met, women and caregivers can better protect children, access services, and pursue self-reliance opportunities. Transparent reporting will help sustain ongoing support as needs evolve. It also reduces harmful coping choices. and strengthens family stability.
