Dear GlobalGiving Community,

Thank you for standing with families who have been forced to flee conflict and rebuild life from nothing. In Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement, Uganda, Sudanese refugee women and children continue to face escalating hunger, worsening water shortages, and unsafe living conditions as humanitarian funding declines and assistance remains cut.

Through American Aid (A A Relief), we remain fully committed to launching an urgent emergency response to help the most vulnerable households, especially women-led families, young children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, survive this crisis with dignity.

Progress Update (This Quarter)

While this project remains in the early stage of fundraising, growing from 2 donors to 4 donors and from $250 to $275 raised, we continued strengthening our operational readiness this quarter so we can begin distributions quickly as support grows. Key progress included:

Sustained local coordination and verification planning:

Our trusted local partners and community leadership in Kiryandongo continue to maintain updated beneficiary lists, prioritizing women-led households and high-risk cases as the situation on the ground evolves.

Relief package framework confirmed and maintained:

Our practical, life-preserving package focused on staple foods, safe water support, mattresses for safe sleeping, and essential clothing for women and children remains fully scoped and ready for sourcing the moment funding allows.

Distribution oversight and documentation systems active:

Our on-the-ground monitoring processes for verifying recipients, documenting delivery, and sharing transparent updates with donors remain in place and ready to deploy.

Community Need & Why This Project Matters

The situation in Kiryandongo remains urgent and continues to worsen:

Food assistance cuts are increasing hunger and malnutrition risk, especially for mothers and young children. Water shortages and limited hygiene access continue to raise the likelihood of illness and preventable outbreaks. Overcrowding and limited services leave families exposed to unsafe conditions and daily hardship.

Many refugees arrived after fleeing conflict with no bedding, no clothing, and no reliable resources, and that reality has not changed.

Our work is rooted in dignity and protection. These families are not numbers; they are mothers trying to keep children alive, warm, and safe under extreme pressure.

Program Model (What Funding Will Deliver)

Once funded, American Aid (A A Relief) will deliver urgent emergency relief through local partners and verified community channels, including:

Staple food items: rice, posho, beans, salt, cooking oil, soap. Clean water support: to reduce illness linked to unsafe water and poor hygiene. Mattresses: to restore safe sleeping conditions and reduce exposure. Essential clothing: for women and children

Distributions will prioritize women-led families and the most vulnerable households. Our team will oversee verification, distribution, and documentation to ensure full accountability.

Challenges & Strategic Response

Primary Challenge:

This project remains at an early fundraising stage, with $275 raised against a $100,000 goal, while needs on the ground are immediate and growing.

Our response this quarter:

Maintaining full operational readiness so we can deploy quickly the moment donations increase. Keeping our phased distribution structure active, allowing even partial funding to translate into immediate relief for the highest-risk households. Strengthening our outreach to new donor communities and expanding campaign visibility to accelerate contributions. Continuing transparent tracking and reporting to maintain and build donor confidence

Next Quarter Plan (Pending Funding)

In the next quarter, as funding grows, we will:

Expand outreach efforts to new donor audiences, community networks, and digital channels to accelerate campaign momentum. Finalize and confirm verified beneficiary lists through community-led identification and partner validation. Launch initial distributions of food staples and hygiene essentials to the most vulnerable households. Expand distributions to include mattresses and essential clothing for women and children. Share clear reporting on outputs such as households reached, items distributed, and distribution dates and locations.

With gratitude, The American Aid (A A Relief) Team
