Hello,
I hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas holidays. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I cannot believe it’s already the end of the year. How time flies. And the war is going for a year already... We could never support Ukrainians for this long period of time without your help. Thank you all for the opportunity to help these people and make this world a little warm and brighter.
With the winder holidays coming, I was wondering what comes to mind first when Ukrainians think of the Christmas and New Year Eve, What is the happiest memory of winter holidays they have, and How they would like to spend it?
I think everyone has their own happy memory about it, and they can be slightly different from each other, but overall image of the happiest holidays everyone wants to have is quite similar, I guess. We all want to spend a simple but warm and happy time with loved ones or with beloved family.
These time of year is the time when everyone is excited about the upcoming new year and winter holidays. Carols flows from all over the street, there are decorated trees all over the city and colorful lights...
And when I was thinking Do Ukrainians feel the same way about these holidays, I got report from Vladimir, manager of the Patria Lukoil refugee center. He sent me photos and videos of Christmas at the center, which I am eager to share with you:)
On December 22nd, refugees hold a simple Christmas at the center. The center and refugees themselves wrote the scenario of the party, decorated the hall. Also, from the money that was donated to the center they prepared presents to children. Children sang songs with Santa Claus and had some funny games and also took a picture with Santa Claus. They seemed happy, which is very very good.
Everyone hoped that the war will be over by the end of this year, and they can spend winter holidays with their family, but unfortunately it didn’t. But we still hope that very soon all this nightmare will pass as it never happened. Until then, we will stick all together and don’t let the war take away our Christmas spirit.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude for everyone who were with refugees this year and also ask you to stay with the refugees next year too as long as they need our support. Peace Winds will continue to do our best to provide these people with the safe and dignified live conditions as long as they need it.
Peace Winds for peace in Ukraine. Thank you once again, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
Gratefully yours,
Dinora from Peace Winds Korea
