Hello dear donors,
I hope you are all doing well and staying safe.
This is Dinora, and I am here to share you with a report on our efforts to support Ukraine refugees for the month of February. Thanks to your generous contributions, we have been able to continue our important work and make a difference in the lives of those who have been displaced by conflict and violence.
We are grateful for your continued support and partnership in this important work. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those who are most in need.
Patria Lukoil Refugee Center in Moldova
Currently 77 refugees are staying at the center, with 46 adults and 31 children. Although the number of refugees has decreased slightly from before, some have left for their hometowns to prepare additional necessary documents and to attend funerals(.
Recently, a mother and her three children arrived at the center, fleeing from the difficult situation in Odessa. They suffered a 56-hour power outage, with no heating or hot water, and struggled to provide hot meals for the children. They were grateful to have found the temporary refugee center in Moldova and appreciated the support provided.
The center is facing some challenges due to reduced financial support from Moldova City Hall, resulting in suspended shelter and warehouse cleaning services. However, the refugees understand the situation and have taken charge of cleaning the shelters. The only issue is that cleaning supplies run out quickly.
From February 1st to 22nd, a total of 4,690 food supplies were distributed from the warehouse. Since March 2022, more than 26,000 families have been registered in the Patria Lukoil Center system, with about 56,000 people have recieved a humanitarian package at least once in the centers. An average of 10 new families request help each day. Most of them are refugees who are too old to work and women with young children.
The center has received support from other organizations to provide an average of 6,500 supplies per month. However, the material support from that organization is only secured from February 23 to April 15, 2023, and there is no budget after that, making it difficult to continue providing aid. Depending on the package, weekly material expenditures range from approximately $35,000 to $60,000, with high demand items such as baby food and hygiene products being the most expensive.
The Ukrainian Refugee Shelter provides a home for refugees who have been forced to flee their homes due to war and violence. Peacewinds Korea's donation provides basic support and comfort for them to survive and start a new life. All the shelter refugees are grateful for the support they have received.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors for their unwavering support. Peacewinds Korea will continue to support Ukrainian refugees until they can return home. We are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to rebuild their lives and fostering hope for their future.
Thank you again for your generosity and commitment to helping refugees in Ukraine.
Also I would like to share some of the comments that we have received from our generous donors on GlobalGiving. It is important for us to let our donors know that we read every comment and are endlessly grateful for their support.
For instance, we recently received this comment from one of our generous donors on GlobalGiving:
“our son asked that donations be made to this project instead of people giving him gifts for his birthday.”
“People are suffering, we can relieve their pain.”
You can also comments & suggestions on Report.
We would love to hear your feedback, comments & Suggestion on our program.
Gratefully yours,
Dinora from Peace Winds Korea
