Lebanon is facing a humanitarian catastrophe with 1 million people internally displaced due to the war. Families have fled with nothing, seeking safety in overcrowded shelters. Nawaya is partnering with ProAbled Social Kitchen, which is on the frontlines, providing life-saving food security. Since 2012, 800,000 meals have been served. We now plan to scale the emergency intervention to produce and deliver 20,000 hot, vacuum meals per month. (Donations are tax-deductible for US and UK donors).
The war in Lebanon has triggered a massive displacement crisis, leaving at least 1 million individuals homeless and without access to basic necessities. Most displaced families are staying in public schools and collective centers that lack the infrastructure to provide regular, nutritious meals. This sudden surge in need has overwhelmed local resources, leaving children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities facing acute food insecurity and the threat of severe malnutrition.
ProAbled Social Kitchen provides an innovative, high-standard emergency food response. As an ISO certified and WFP-approved kitchen, we utilize advanced vacuum-sealed technology, ensuring superior food safety and a longer shelf life compared to traditional meals, critical for emergency conditions. The model has proven effective, serving as a frontline responder during the 2004 war and the Beirut Blast, reaching a total of 800,000 meals produced and distributed to vulnerable communities.
Beyond immediate relief, this project provides a vital safety net for the internally displaced families in Lebanon, preserving their health and dignity during their most vulnerable moments. By sustaining food security now, we prevent long-term health complications and social instability. Our intervention strengthens the national emergency response network, ensuring that Lebanon's humanitarian infrastructure is resilient enough to protect its people until they can safely return to their homes.
